3 in 4 adults age 50+ volunteer either formally or informally

Among adults ages 50 and older, “3 in 4 [75%] volunteered their time in service during that past year [2014]—representing a 13-point increase from 2003,” according to a 2016 AARP report. The rate of volunteering for an organization was 52%, while the rate of informal volunteering was 66%, and 43% volunteer for both an organization and on their own. (p. 39)
