Under 3% of Hourly Workers Age 45+ Earn the Minimum Wage or Less
“Minimum wage workers tend to be young.” Among older workers, only 2.4% of hourly workers aged 45-54 have earnings at or below the federal minimum wage. Among those aged 55-64, 1.8% earn the minimum wage or less; for those aged 65 and over, the rate is 2.9%, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics analysis of Current Population Survey data.
