Dr. Klaus Schömann, Professor of Sociology, specializes on life course sociology. Main topics of his research are lifelong learning, labor market policy, retirement transitions. He received his doctorate in Sociology from the Free Univ. Berlin in 1992. Before joining Jacobs University in 2004, he was a Senior Research Fellow at the Social Science Research Center, Berlin, from 1992 to 2004. Until 2006 he was Principal Contractor for the EU-thematic network "" on labor market transitions including 25 European research institutes. Consulting activities range from private sector firms in Germany and international organizations.
