On behalf of the Office of the Dean for Student Development (ODSD), I would like to welcome you to Boston College. You have made an excellent decision to attend a Jesuit, Catholic University where you will have many opportunities to grow intellectually, personally, socially, and spiritually. I invite you to make the most out of your Boston College education by partaking of the many resources that are available for student involvement to develop your leadership skills and to engage with faculty and administrators, as we are looking forward to participating in your growth and development.
As we begin a new academic year, I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the Student Guide (available online at www.bc.edu/studentguide). It outlines your rights and responsibilities as a student and the rules and regulations for which you will be held accountable. If you have questions or concerns about any of the information provided in the guide, feel free to stop by the Office of the Dean for Student Development in 21 Campanella Way, Suite 212. We are a great resource for students, particularly as we address a variety of issues including alcohol and substance abuse, civility and respect, inclusion, disability, gender and sexuality, diversity, and student behavior.
I hope you will embrace all the richness of our diverse community. Best of luck in all of your endeavors here at Boston College.
Sincerely yours,
Sheilah Shaw Horton, Ph.D.
Associate Vice President/Dean for Student Development
