From the Vice President for Student Affairs

2009-2010 student guide

It is with pleasure that I welcome you to Boston College and the Division of Student Affairs! Whether you are a new or returning student, Student Affairs will help you to engage fully with the many educational opportunities at Boston College. Our work in the Division of Student Affairs is centered on cura personalis, which means "care of the whole person." This is a core part of BC's Catholic and Jesuit mission. We seek to help you explore the unique gifts and talents that you bring to BC as you learn new insights about yourself and others during your time here. As Vice President, I am committed to your learning in the fullest sense and strive to provide a wide range of Division programs and services to assist with this learning.

I work with a dedicated staff of professionals who represent ten departments on campus and who are committed to your academic success and personal growth. These departments provide services in on- and off-campus living, academic support, health and wellness, community service, career services, and student activities. You will find that being involved on campus and within the larger communities of Boston and beyond will reap life-long rewards for you years after you have left BC.

It is our hope that by participating in a rich campus environment and interacting with a diversity of people, you will come to know yourself better and be well prepared to enter into the world upon graduation. We are committed to helping you become a person focused on the needs of others through whatever vocation you choose.

My staff and I offer our best wishes to you for the upcoming year.
