Shakesrel is an Internet discussion group for those wishing to discuss the topic of "Shakespeare and Religion" in any of its aspects, and from any point of view.
Discussions might include:
- Shakespeare's Reformation contexts,
- Shakespeare's religious affililiations, or lack thereof,
- Shakespeare's Catholic backgrounds, Protestant backgrounds, etc.
- Shakespeare in subsequent religious history,
- critical traditions concerning Shakespeare and religion,
- queries and references,
- contemporary treatments of Shakespeare and Religion.
The aims of the group might also include:
- exchanging information about conferences, lectures, and recent publications on Shakespeare and Religion,
- engaging in comment and debate where relevant,
- setting up contact among those seeking to exchange information and views.
