By
Gerard O’Brien, SJTitle: Assistant Professor, Philosophy Department
Years at BC: 45
What part of your job at BC will you miss the most?
“My principal job is teaching philosophy, so what I will miss the most is the contact with students in the classroom, relating to students, trying to get across what I think are important truths to my students.”
Ruth-Arlene Howe
Title: Professor, Law School
Years at BC: 32 as full-time faculty member; JD’74
What part of your job at BC will you miss the most?
“The advocating for and mentoring of students, especially African American members of the Black Law Student Association (BLSA) and staff of the Third World Law Journal (TWLJ) for which I’ve been a faculty advisor since its fall 1979 founding.
“The contributions to and impact on the civic life of African American and other communities of color that BCLS graduates make are a tribute to this Jesuit Catholic institution and affirm the ‘rightness’ of efforts initiated in the late 1960s by former Dean Robert F. Drinan, SJ. These were grounded in two insights of Jesuit spirituality: the vision of seeing all things in God and God in all things; and the Jesuit motto ad majorem Dei gloriam (for the greater glory of God).”
Cyrilla Mooradian
Title: Administrative Assistant to Jesuit Community
Years at BC: 37
What part of your job at BC will you miss the most?
“I will miss the Jesuit Community. I’m very proud of my long and rewarding association with the Jesuits at Boston College. I have felt it an honor and privilege to work for them, men who devoted their lives to the church and education. I’ll also miss my friends at St. Mary’s, More Hall and the many relationships I have made throughout campus.”
John O’Brien

Years at BC: 32
What part of your job at BC will you miss the most?
“I will miss all of the friendships that I have made along the way – and there must be thousands. Of all of those people I had contact with – fellow employees, the Jesuits, especially the people along College Road – I liked them all. I think I always got along with everyone. My nickname was ‘The Mayor of College Road.’”

What part of your job at BC will you miss the most?
“What I’ll miss most is my colleagues, friends and the relationships I have made over 37 years. People always say that BC is a family and it really is. When I think about leaving I think about losing part of that.”
