Erin E. Eighan '10 has been selected as one of 16 new Lilly Graduate Fellows, the Lilly Fellows Program announced.

The Lilly Graduate Fellows Program is an initiative of the Lilly Fellows Program in Humanities and the Arts that supports outstanding students who want to explore the connections among Christianity, higher education, and the vocation of the teacher-scholar. A nine-member committee interviewed 24 finalists chosen from 66 applicants this spring before making the 16 selections.

Eighan, who graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in English, was a member of the College of Arts and Sciences Honors Program as well as the University's chapters of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit Honor Society. She also served as editor-in-chief of the undergraduate research journal Elements.

Eighan and the other Fellows will meet for three days at an inaugural conference on August 2-5 in Indianapolis with their mentors, Boston College Philosophy Professor Patrick Byrne and Susan VanZanten of Seattle Pacific University. The Fellows will then embark on a three-year program in which they meet regularly with mentors, attend three additional conferences, participate in a long-distance colloquium, and receive three annual stipends of $3000 to use at their discretion.
