The Public
Interest Law Foundation (PILF)
is a student
organization dedicated to providing public interest law opportunities
to
students at Boston College Law School. These opportunities including
funding
student projects, sponsoring speakers
throughout the year, and providing students with PILF Summer Stipends
so that
they can take unpaid positions at legal aid, non-profit and other
public interest law organizations after their first and second year's
of law. PILF holds an Annual Auction
as the major fundraiser for the Summer Stipends. In addition, PILF
takes donations directly from students through its Work-A-Day
program, as well as matching gifts from legal employers. PILF also
holds several other fundraisers throughout the school year. PILF also works with Boston
College Law School to encourage the addition of public interest classes,
provide loan repayment to graduates practicing public interest law and
to create a community of support for students interested in public interest
law regardless of their ultimate career choice. PILF members also regularly
attend the Annual Boston College
Law Public Interest Law Retreat and the Equal Justice Works Annual Conference and Job
Fair. One of PILF's greatest strengths is its many different student projects that provide practical legal experience, sponsor speakers and provide community education. These projects are regularly started by students who see a pressing public interest currently not addressed by current student organizations, and then tend to eventually become their own student organization. If you are interested in getting involved in PILF or any of its projects, please contact us. Meet the 2007-2008 PILF
