Welcome to the start of an exciting four years at Boston College. The following activities are designed to assist your transition to college life and connect you with many of the opportunities, offices, and people on campus.

We invite you to take advantage of as many of these activities as you can. Please note that some of the events are mandatory for all first-year students.

All students are required to view BC Safe, an educational video, prior to arriving on campus. Log on to to access BC Safe.

Persons with disabilities who need accommodations and services while participating in Welcome Week activities should contact 617–552–3280 or prior to July 1. We will make every effort to meet the needs of all students.

Opportunities Fair

Faculty, staff, and students will provide information on specialized academic programs and majors/minors, volunteer opportunities, campus retreats, campus recreation, intramurals, student employment, and other opportunities available at Boston College. Explore the opportunities at your own pace and connect with people who can answer your questions and provide you with valuable information. 

Welcome Receptions | Locations Across Campus
1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.

Meet administrators, student leaders, and faculty and learn about opportunities to get involved on campus. Visit at least six different programs for a chance to win an iPad mini. Just remember to drop off your completed passports to the Student Affairs reception area on the 4th floor of Maloney Hall by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 25!

Advising Meetings by School

Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences Advising Session Pre-major Lunch ★

All College of Arts and Sciences first-year students will meet their pre-major faculty advisors to discuss their academic plans and advising resources for their four years at Boston College. Students will receive an email with their session time prior to their meeting.

Connell School of Nursing Orientation and Lunch ★

Nursing students will meet their peer advisors for lunch and will be introduced to the Nursing faculty and technology resources.

Lynch School of Education Orientation and Lunch ★

First-year students in the Lynch School of Education will meet the Deans, first-year ERA instructors, peer mentors, and fellow classmates.

Portico Trip to Boston ★
10:00 a.m.– 4:30 p.m.
All first year Carroll School students will meet their Portico Teaching Assistants in their assigned classroom locations prior to leaving for Boston.

DiscoverBOSTON Excursions
1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m. | Conte Circle
Journey into Boston with upperclassmen to learn more about the wonderful city of Boston and all it has to offer. Meet your excursion leaders and travel into the city as a group. Trips will last approximately three to four hours. Event registration is required. Space is limited. 

Optional Campus Tours
3:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m. | Outside of Devlin Hall
Join a member of the Student Admission Program (SAP) for a tour around campus and get acquainted with buildings and classrooms before school starts on Monday. Tours will depart outside of Devlin Hall at 3 PM and 4 PM.

The Class of 2020 Takes Over Target!

The local Target store will be open solely for you! Enjoy shopping with your classmates, find gear for your room, and pick up any last-minute items before classes begin.

Reservoir Run/Walk

Lace up your sneakers for a casual run/walk around a popular campus trail. Meet at the entrance of the Rec Plex and head out for a two-mile jog led by members of WeRunBC. Meet fellow runners and learn some local trails. Runners of all levels welcome.
