MDPH HAS SEEN AN INCREASE IN GASTROINTESTINAL ILLNESS
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) is seeing a significant number of gastrointestinal illness outbreaks across the state this winter. These viruses will often cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea in people who get infected.
It is important to recognize the above symptoms if they should occur and notify UHS at 617-552-3225 so that we can advise you regarding symptom management.
The single best way to protect yourself from these viruses is frequent hand washing, especially after using the bathroom, before and after snacking, preparing food or eating, and before placing your hands near your face or mouth. The use of soap and water, or alcohol based hand sanitizers are both highly effective methods of destroying viruses.
It's not too late to get your flu vaccine. Please call UHS at 617-552-3225 to schedule an appointment.
