Undergraduate Research Fellowships

Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors; not available to A&S freshmen

Any academic field. Supports undergraduates who assist a BC faculty member in faculty research, during the Fall, Spring, or Summer semester. Usually early September, December, and March. For deadlines, consult the website for your school.
Formal application must be made by the faculty member who will direct the research. Get application information from the Director of Undergraduate Studies in your major.
Carnegie Junior Fellow

International Relations

Supports one-year research position at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace

December 1 Get application from the BC Coordinator, and submit to the BC Nominating Committee.

Matthew R. Copithorne Scholarship

Seniors and recent graduates

Any academic field

Supports graduate study at Harvard or MIT

May 1 Upon confirmation of acceptance into a graduate program at Harvard or MIT, contact the BC Coordinator.

Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowship

U.S. citizens only

Any academic or professional program leading to a PhD

Supports graduate study in any U.S. graduate or professional program

German Chancellor Scholarship

U.S. citizens only

Command of German is not a prerequisite

Supports one-year placement at any institution or professional position in Germany

Jacob K. Javits Fellowship

U.S. citizens and permanent resident aliens

Arts, Humanities, or Social Sciences

Supports graduate study in any doctoral program in the U.S.

  Funding for this fellowship has not been renewed by Congress, and applications are no longer accepted.

John A. Lyons Fellowship

BC seniors born in Massachusetts only

Any academic field

Supports study in any graduate program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

February 1

Apply directly to an MIT graduate program and write to the Dean at MIT, asking for consideration for the Lyons Fellowship.

Notify the BC Coordinator.

James Madison Memorial Fellowship

U.S. citizens only

Secondary Education, American History, American Government

Supports graduate study at any U.S. university toward a career in secondary education

January 15 Get application information from, and submit completed application to the BC Coordinator, for review by the BC Nominating Committee.

George C. Marshall Scholarship
