The Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Awards are open to seniors and recent graduates with exceptional artistic or creative promise and significant financial who intend to pursue up to three years of study at an accredited graduate institution in the United States or abroad, in the performing arts, the visual arts, or creative writing. Awards can be as much as $50,000 annually for up to three years of graduate study. The Foundation will select up to 15 recipients annually for this award.
The award provides funding for tuition, room and board, required fees, and books. Scholarship amounts vary based on several factors, including cost at the institution each recipient attends and other grants and scholarships the student receives.
To be eligible for a Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Award, applicants must be seniors or recent graduates (within the last five years) who have not yet begun graduate study. Applicants must have a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.20 or better. U.S. citizenship is not required.
The online application includes a portfolio of creative work, two letters of recommendation, and information on the applicant's circumstances of financial need.
Candidates for the Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Award must be nominated by the Boston College Cooke Nominating Committee. Boston College may nominate no more than two candidates. The Foundation will not accept applications directly from candidates. Interested students should contact the BC Campus Coordinator for the Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Award for information.
Application instructions are available on the Cooke Foundation website in early November. The Cooke Foundation application deadline is February 1st. However, the deadline for submitting complete applications to the BC Campus Coordinator, for consideration by the Cooke Nominating Committee, is January 15.
To be competitive, interested students should contact the Cooke Campus Coordinator during the previous Fall semester, to begin preparing their applications.
