1. How do I park in the Garage without a permit?

Upon entering, take a ticket, the gate arm will go up and you must park on the third floor and above in visitor’s parking. When entering from Beacon Street, you enter on the 2nd floor and must go up one floor to park. Faculty, staff and students cannot qualify as a visitor.

2. What do I do if I get a ticket?

You must pay or appeal your notice of violation within 14 days of receiving the ticket.

You have three options:

1. Please go to http://bc.edu/payparkingtickets to pay for tickets online using a credit card. You must have the ticket number and license plate number of the vehicle. Please wait 2 business days for ticket information to be downloaded.

2. Payments can be made in person. Cash or checks must be made payable to Boston College. If you are a student you may also choose to have your student account billed for the entire amount.

3. Checks only, no cash, can be mailed to:

3. I got a $75 ticket for parking on the wrong floor, why is it so much money?

Space is extremely limited on campus. We work very hard to control the limited supply of parking we have.

4. How do I appeal a ticket?

Appeal Process:

1. Appeals must be submitted to the transportation and Parking office within fourteen calendar days of the violation. Please wait 2 business days for ticket information to be downloaded.

2. Use our online appeal option www.bc.edu/offices/transportation/appeals.html

Members of the Parking Advisory council will adjudicate appeals and the rulings are final. No other submission of information will be accepted including live appearances.

PLEASE NOTE: Three unpaid tickets and/or fines not paid within 60 calendar days of violation date may result in vehicle towing at the expense of the owner.

5. What do I do if my appeal is denied?

If an appeal is denied the person is responsible to pay the citation. See options 1 and 2 above for payment methods.

6. I have friends coming to visit. Can they park overnight?

During the academic year, overnight visitor parking is available from Friday after 5:00 PM until Monday at 2:00 AM. Both garages are available for parking above level 3.

NO overnight parking is allowed the night before a Home Football Game.

If the gate arm is open when you arrive and down when you are leaving, you must go to the pay machine, press the “LOST TICKET” button and pay the $10 charge. Visitor overnight parking is not allowed from Monday after 2:00AM until Friday at 5:00PM.

7. When can I apply for a parking permit?

a. Resident students may apply after your advisor confirms your authorization, sends it to Transportation and Parking, and it is inputted into the system.  After you authorization is inputted, you should log onto your AGORA account and click on the “Parking Permits and Citations” link.

b. Commuter students must live 1 mile away from public transportation. Applications are available from Student Services, and you need to verify with Student Services that you live 1 mile away from public transportation.

c. Faculty/Staff can apply anytime by logging onto your AGORA account and clicking on the “Parking Permits and Citations” link.

d. Graduate Students can apply anytime by logging onto your AGORA account and clicking on the “Parking Permits and Citations” link.

8. How do vendor/contractors get permits?

BC Project managers must email transportation@bc.edu verifying that they will be working on campus. BC Project manager must include name of permit holder, beginning and ending dates of project, job location, and name of company.

9. How much is a permit for contractors?

Prices:

$60- a month

$300- half the year (6 months)

$600- full Year (12 months)

**3 cars maximum per permit**

GVC permits are repositionable and must have vehicle information associated with the permit.  If contractor would like to add a vehicle they must contact Student Services 617-552-3300.

10. I have a medical issue. Can I get parking?

Students need to click here and fill out the accessibility form.  The top section of the form needs to be filled out by the requester and the rest of the form needs to be filled out by the physician.  This information can be faxed back to us at 617-552-0969.  We then send this information to the Dean for Students with Disabilities, Suzy Conway, for review.

*We would love to accommodate everyone, but due to space limitations, we may be unable to do so.

11. What students are eligible for parking permits?

Only students that are receiving academic credit for a practicum or internship have the option to obtain a permit.  Students that have jobs off-campus are expected to use public transportation.  We wish we had the space for everyone but, space is very limited.  Those looking for parking can contact Residence Life (off campus housing) at 617-552-3060.  Some local residents will rent their parking spaces to BC students.

12. Do I have to move my car off campus before a football game?

Students must move their cars the night before the football game by 11PM to make room for the thousands of fans who come to cheer BC on.

13. I am attending a football game at BC and do not have a parking permit. Where can I park?

Visitors must park in the Needham Industrial Satellite parking. It is located off of Rt. 128/95, take exit 19A to Highland Avenue in Needham heading toward Newton.  Turn right onto First Avenue and follow the posted signs to the designated BC parking area.  The shuttle bus is free.

14. Where do I pick up my parking permit?

After you register under your agora account you can go to Student Services in Lyons Hall to obtain your parking permit.

15. What do I do if my transponder does not work?

Look at the column where you take a ticket and see what is being read on the monitor.  Take a ticket and call transportation and parking, at 617-552-0151, when you get to work.  If you do not call before you leave, you will have to pay $10.00 to get out.
