Stephanie & Transportation

“I come from a very ‘green’ area, Seattle, but by necessity you need a car. Living in Boston has made me much more willing and confident to use public transportation, which I hope to carry with me after I graduate.”

Public transportation is an easy, economical means of traveling. Boston has an excellent public transportation system, operated by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.

See our Transportation page to learn more about eco-friendly traveling around campus and in Boston.

Stephanie & Sustainability at BC

“Students at BC are much better than before in sorting waste and collecting cans, especially for foundations like Cans Against Cancer. The new sorting system in McElroy is a great start! I think more signs that challenge the use of takeout containers when people are eating in the dining halls would be great to stimulate thought about wastefulness and increase awareness. I also hear more talk about sustainability and conservation issues on campus. A lot more people are doing small things like using reusable water bottles instead of purchasing new ones at the cafeteria everyday.”

Stephanie & the Environmental Movement

“As a college student, I think that environmental campaigning has been most easily accessed and received by students who are already looking to improve society. Now, the environmental movement is not only reaching those who already take the general stance that our lifestyle is wasteful, yet those who may think more economically or are more business minded are also becoming more involved in the environmental movement.”

Films like An Inconvenient Truth have helped raise awareness on environmental issues around the world. See our Events page to learn about past and future awareness-raising events, or read the latest headlines on our News page.
