What is LeaderShape?

The LeaderShape Institute is a national organization that has been established for about thirty years across various college campuses. LeaderShape is now in its third consecutive year at Boston College, accepting up to 50 students each year for a six-day experience to explore what makes you a leader, equip you with the tools to achieve your full leadership potential, and aid you in sustaining your leadership vision for the future.

The LeaderShape experience features six extensive days of community building and personal leadership training, each day is designed to target a specific area of development:

Day One:  "Building Community"

Day Two:  "The Value of One, the Power of All"

Day Three:  "Challenging What Is, Looking to What Could Be"

Day Four:  "Bringing Vision to Reality"

Day Five:  "Living and Leading with Integrity"

Day Six:  "Staying in Action"

Who attends LeaderShape?

All undergraduate Boston College students are welcome to apply. The ideal LeaderShape participant is passionate about local and global issues, enjoys engaging in constructive dialogue, is ready to turn planning into action, is comfortable collaborating in groups, and is open-minded about the potential of their LeaderShape experience.

Why should I become a participant?

LeaderShape is a unique experience that partners students with exceptional faculty and administrators who are available to advise and guide each participant throughout the week program. LeaderShape intellectually, creatively, and mentally challenges each participants in an ongoing efforts to refine your leadership skills and achieve results such as:

  • Becoming more self-aware of your leadership potential

  • Incorporating ethics and personal values in decision making processes

  • Recognizing the power of teamwork

  • Creating and implementing a long-term vision for positive change

  • Identifying important personal values in connection with personal purpose Gaining a greater awareness of their own leadership and communication style

  • Creating and mapping a vision plan

When and where is LeaderShape?

Details for LeaderShape 2016 will be released in September. LeaderShape is typically held in January during the last week of winter break. 

How much does it cost?

LeaderShape is free for participants and includes transportation to and from the retreat, three meals each day, and comfortable housing. Participants who confirm participation and cancel after December 1, 2014 will be charged a $50 cancellation fee.
