Class of 2010

Name:  Katie Girskis
Hometown:  Plymouth, MI

Senate, and UGBC in general, has seen many improvements during my past two years serving on the Senate:  better student-staff relations, the Off-Campus report, Dustbowl tables, dorm walks.  It would be an honor to continue these activities that advocate for students during my last year at Boston College.

Name: Scott Jelinek
Hometown: Wellesley, MA

With my involvement with the Senate over the past 3 years, I believe that I can continue to give our class the voice it deserves in decision-making and improve our community to make it as beneficial as possible. I promise to continue to express the concerns of the BC student that otherwise would go unheard.

Name: Trevor Lair
Hometown: Chillicothe, Mo

I would like to see the creation of a responsible alcohol and drug policy that protects a student's welfare and future.  Also, it is important that we take measures to spend UGBC's money wisely, as it is the students' money.

Name: Bryan Leyva
Hometown: Central Falls, RI

I would like to work on certain student initiatives such as the development of the Ethnic Studies Programs, Diversity Steering Committee reform, naming of the Asian American Scholarship, and restructuring of the Student Organization Funding Committee. Furthermore, I would like to see the benches of the all bus stops cushioned, so that people who frequently use the BC shuttle, such as Freshmen housed in Newton,  actually sit on them rather than stand because the benches are too cold. :)

Name: Bridget Ronan
Hometown: New Rochelle, NY

In my time at Boston College, I hope to see more student influence in the administrative decisions that affect the entire campus. I also want to work towards creating a stronger advising program that will help students in making important decisions about their futures.

Class of 2011

Name: Nicholas Buffin
Hometown: London, England

During my four years I want to see lots of little steps taken by Senate and UGBC. And at the end of my four years I want to look back and see the huge amount that we have accomplished by taking things step-by-step, meeting-by-meeting, talk-by-talk.

Name: Christopher Lange
Hometown: Boxford, MA

I would like to open a dialogue between the administration and student government about cutting the cost of BC. There should be more initiative to expand upon and improve the financial aid system. In addition, students have a right to transparency and to see how their $50,000+/year is being spent.

Name: Robert Monaco
Hometown: Paramus, New Jersey

I would like to see Boston College start up a ping-pong club, along with other small clubs pertaining to certain hobbies to encourage more student involvement on campus. I also believe Boston College student organizations should place more emphasis on the social lives of students, and thoughtfully start some new traditions that will leave a legacy as they are continued year after year.

Name: Tripp Ott
Hometown: Dubuque, Iowa

Coming back for my second year of college here on the Heights I see as the most pressing issue the severity of the 'Matrix.' Also opening UGBC up to the students. The students don’t have a sufficient voice in undergraduate government here at BC. Finally, working to increase green initiatives.

Name:  Patrick Raab
Hometown:  Buffalo, NY

I will be a realistic and determined voice of this class. With your support, I intend to invest my time and energy into striving for community wide unity.  I will facilitate better administration-peer communication, support environmental conservation, and promote an improvement in the university’s understanding of our wishes and desires.

Name: Harvey Simmons
Hometown: Syracuse, New York

I would like to continue to initiate and organize popular events like Ice Skating in Conte, continue to work personally with administrators on issues (such as Medical Amnesty, the Service Endowment and Ambulance Acquisition with Eagle EMS) and serve as a resource for student concerns and opinions through effective legislation.

Name: Dan Stefanis
Hometown: Stow, MA

In my four years at BC I would like to see a greater commitment to BC going green, an alternative to the present ‘matrix’ for students who violate the drug and alcohol policies that is more reasonable/acceptable to the students, and expansion of online resources provided by the UGBC website.

Name: Joe Tursi
Hometown: San Francisco, CA

Over the course of the following two years I would like to see the following accomplished: a continued commitment to sustainability, a re-vamped housing process, broadening of the shuttle service, greater involvement in campus events, and the formation of a better relationship with the residents of Brighton.

Class of 2012

Name: Michael Boyarsky
Hometown: East Greenwich, RI

Since I was elected Senator this past fall, I have learned how UGBC works. From this I have begun working on certain issues such as the Alcohol Sanctions, Satellite Printing, and Peer Advising.  I hope to continue with these issues and work on others that will help the student body.

Name: Steven Candido
Hometown: Cedar Grove, NJ

What would you like to see accomplished in your four years at Boston College?  ...A person who has lived up to his full potential, a successful student on his way to law school. I want to see that not only myself but others as well will have had the best experience possible in this institution. I'd like to help facilitate that in any way possible.

Name:  Nick Domnino
Hometown: New Canaan Connecticut

I would like to see a more localized system for main streaming information about club meetings, events, and so on over the next four years.  There are a plethora of opportunities and although face book and emailing is a good way to start more steps should be made.  I would also like to see a stronger connection between RHA and UGBC.  RHA is a national organization and can pull many strings which UGBC does not utilize.

Name: Brendan Driscoll
Hometown: 109 Hidden Oak Drive

Right now there are several things I would like to see accomplished in my time at BC, and I know  this list will expand with time. I would like to see the alcohol matrix revised and I would like to see dining bucks and vending bucks combined into one account. Also, I would like for students not to be afraid to bring their friends to the infirmary for alcohol reasons. Lastly, I would like to see lacrosse and golf made intramural sports.

Name: Dylan Enright
Hometown: Park City, UT

Four years is a short while. I hope to see Boston College become a more convenient place for its students. BC should be as easy as home, without the parents. Life here should be without a hitch and that is what I hope to see thru.

Name: Courtney Finkel
Hometown: Darien, CT

I want to continue my efforts to have the freshman experience appropriately represented to incoming students and potential freshmen. I want to see a stronger, more unified student voice being adequately represented to the administration. I want to continue to utilize input from BC students to pursue the goals we all have, and I want to make sure that the class of 2012 is as involved in university affairs as possible throughout the next 3 years.

Name: Chris Gagne
Hometown: East Greenwich RI

In my four years at BC, I would like to see a drastically improved relationship between the students and important administrators. This change would be of primary importance, because it would effect all other change that attempted in the future.

Name: Mike Joyce
Hometown: Milton, Massachusetts

I would like to improve the BC experience in every way possible.  I would like to see the quality of student life improved, to increase the number of social events, and to make the academic program more interesting.  I would particularly like to improve the first year experience for freshmen.

Name: Derek Lo
Hometown: Upton, MA

In my BC career, I hope to see improved Alcohol and Drug policy, Alcohol Amnesty program, increased student organization funding, satellite printing on Newton, Upper, and Lower, improved bus service, greater administration relationship, students’ rights protection, increased sexual health resources, quality and inexpensive dining services, and overall better campus experience.

Name: Roderick McKelvie
Hometown: Washington, D.C.

I strive for the prolonged improvement of our community here at Boston College. I would like to see student rights and voices continue to improve and expand and BC remain a place that we all love.

Name: James Sasso
Hometown: Hamden, Connecticut

I plan to work with the administration to: 1) Promote more student rights awareness 2) Rid the school of unfair rules and regulations (related to both housing and substances), 3) Provide more justice to the student body, 4) Make the class of 2012 the best one ever!

Name: Tyler Schenk
Hometown: Saint Louis, MO

In my four years at Boston College, I would like to see more programs initiated and more events planned that bring the class of 2012 together as a whole in hopes of building stronger class unity which will allow us to bring forth our classes full potential.
