Information for Employers
NEWS & NOTES
Massachusetts Earned Sick Time Law: During our summer employment period, students may be eligible to earn, accrue, use and carryover sick time hours. Refer to this subject, including the Questions and Answers, in the navigation tree on the left side of this page. View the Public Notice.
The Massachusetts Minimum Wage: Effective January 1, 2016, the minimum wage increases to $10.00 per hour. Campus employers are aware of this, and also that changes are being handled by the Human Resources Service Center in an automated way. Therefore, employers will not have to submit any student pay rate changes to the HRSC.
Reminder: Students may work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year, even if working more than one job for Boston College.
The Student Employment video tutorial is available for viewing on the video tutorial web page.
You may download the most up-to-date version of our Student Employment brochure for additional information.
Enrolled Boston College student employees can complete, edit or update Direct Deposit, W-4 and M-4 tax withholding information through their Agora portal. New hires will have this ability once their hire forms have been processed by the University’s Human Resources Service Center (HRSC), after which you will have the Human Resources links to complete those forms.
Log into the Agora portal at portal.bc.edu. Type your username and password, and click the login button. Go to “My Services” and look for “Human Resources” in the lower left corner. Select “PeopleSoft Human Resource Services” and then you can select Direct Deposit or tax information under “Self-Service”.
For your convenience, a printable PDF with detailed instructions about Direct Deposit is available.
Contact the HRSC at 617-552-4772 if you have any questions about accessing those sites, completing, updating or editing Direct Deposit and tax withholding forms.
NOTE: International students still will need to go to the HRSC at 129 Lake Street on the Brighton campus with their passport and visa, and assistance in completing paper tax withholding forms is available at the HRSC. It is suggested that you call ahead to the HRSC at 617-552-6409 to confirm the availability of the foreign tax specialist.
