Disbursement
PLUS loans that are borrowed through American Student Assistance are electronically disbursed in two equal disbursements (fall & spring) to the student's account upon approval and guarantee.
Non-ASA PLUS loans are disbursed in two equal disbursements in the form of a paper check made out to the borrower and Boston College. Once endorsed, the check will be deposited to the student's account.
As of July 1, 2008, graduate and law students who borrow the Grad PLUS loan are required to complete entrance counseling before the loan can be disbursed. This is required even if counseling has already been completed for prior Federal Stafford loans. Affected borrowers will be notified via their BC e-mail accounts when and where they can complete this requirement.
Refunds
Should any disbursement create a credit balance, you or the student may request a refund through Agora, by phone, or in writing. Please note that refunds cannot be issued before the first day of classes for any semester. If a credit balance is created due to the disbursement of a Graduate PLUS loan and you do not request a refund, Boston College will send the credit balance to the student at their local address.
