Fall Semester 2016

August 5 Friday Last date for master’s and doctoral candidates to submit signed and approved copies of theses and dissertations for August 2016 graduation.
August 29 Monday Classes begin for the fall 2016 semester.
September 5 Monday Labor Day—No classes.
September 7 Wednesday Last date for graduate students to add a course or drop a course online.
September 7 Wednesday Last date for undergraduate students to add a course or drop a course or to declare a course pass/fail online.
September 8 Thursday Mass of the Holy Spirit at noon. Classes cancelled from noon to 1:15 p.m.
October 1 Saturday Summer 2016 “I” grades changed to “F.”

October 3 Monday Last date for undergraduates only to drop a course in their Associate Deans' offices.
October 7 Friday Friday Evening football: Classes, labs, and discussion sections that would ordinarily start at 4:00 p.m. or earlier and extend past 5:00 p.m. may be held at the instructor’s discretion.
October 10 Monday Columbus Day—No classes.
October 11 Tuesday Yom Kippur—begins at sundown* (Judaism).
October 17 Monday Last date for undergraduates only to declare a course pass/fail in their Associate Deans' offices.
October 20 Thursday Degree audits available from advisors.

*These are the dates for the major Christian and Jewish holidays through the end of the fall 2016 semester. Students may be obliged to spend time during the holidays with their families while classes are still in session or during the exam period.
