The Volunteer & Service Learning Center, the Boston College Neighborhood Center, and the Nicaragua Faculty/Staff Immersion Program are pleased to announce:
The 5th Annual Boston College Fair Trade Holiday Sale
DATE: Thursday, December 10, 2009
TIME: 9AM-5PM
LOCATION: Gasson 100
Buying Fair Trade is a great way to support grassroots efforts for change in the developing world. By buying Fair Trade you ensure that the people producing the goods you buy are paid a just wage for their labor. Join us for the Fair Trade Holiday Sale to learn more, support artisans and cooperatives, and to get beautiful products from around the world!
To learn more about the organizations* attending the fair, please visit their websites:
| Ten Thousand Villages | Equal Exchange |
| Just Coffee | Folk Art Mavens |
| A Thread of Hope | Women's Gold |
| Women's Bean Project | People of Hope Crafts |
Also joining us will be Project Have Hope, and Maya Skills. We will also be offering hand-made purses from El Salvador, jewelry and quilted items from Nicaragua, as well as Nativity Sets from Mexico.
The Volunteer & Service Learning Center has also worked on initiatives supporting Heifer International. Consider giving the gift of sustainability and independence this holiday season! (By adding "BC-Ark" to your form, your donation will become a part of the Ark of animals begun by BC employees in 2005).
*In addition to supporting the work by artisan's associated with each organization, we ask each vendor to pay a small fee for participating in the event. This money is then donated to two scholarship programs - one in Nicaragua and one in El Salvador. If you would like more information about these scholarships, please contact the VSLC.
Please call the VSLC at 617-552-1317 with any questions! We look forward to seeing you!
