Cleansweep Mission:

* To connect with and support the Greater Boston community in a thoughtful, respectful, meaningful, and helpful way.

* To provide a way for students living on lower campus to give away items that are still good, but that they cannot or do not want to bring home for the summer.

* To help the environment by reducing waste, recycling and reusing

* To connect with other members of the BC community

We would also like to thank the BC people and departments who work behind the scenes to make Cleansweep possible - Maria Dichiappari, Catherine Sullivan, Sheila Jafarzadeh at the Boston College Neighborhood Center; John Pagliarulo, Terry Gilman, Leonardo Torres, Sandy Corsi and the Plex staff; PJ Cappadona (Transportation & Parking);  Gerry Boyle and the Facilities staff; John McLaughlin (Information Technology); Chris Darcy, Henry Humphries, and the Residential Life staff; Mike Swanson (Media Technology Services);  Sheila McMahon (Women's Resource Center); Johny Walker, Captain Maggie Connolly, Chief Robert Morse, Officer Spencer MacWilliams, and all the day-shift officers (BCPD); Deirdre Manning (Sustainability & Facilities Management); Dave Early and the staff of Bureau of Conferences; and Helen Wechsler and Michael Kann (Dining Services).

What are people saying about Cleansweep?

Some of our teens headed off to college and took some much needed items for their dorms.  The cost of school is so high with books, tuition, and food, that we often forget the little nick-knacks that every college student needs.  This is such a good idea.

As a BC School of Social Work alumna and as a Department of Veterans Affairs worker, I am both proud and grateful for Cleansweep...The kitchenware, linens, food, and household cleaning items, clocks-whatever-are absolute Godsends to the people we see and serve daily.
