Checkout Procedure

All underclassmen residents are required to check-out at their Area Checkout Location in order to avoid an improper checkout which can result in fees up to $200.00 and possible forfeiture of housing for the next eligable year.

If you were issued a key at check-in, you should return it at this time to avoid being charged for a lost key ($20-$50). If someone wishes to claim responsibility for a particular item damaged, he/she should email reslife.billing@bc.edu from their BC account explaining such in detail.

There will be no checkouts after 9 p.m. If you must leave between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. you are responsible for checking out prior to 9 p.m. the night of your departure. Please note, the Residency Agreement is in effect as long as you remain on campus.

DEACTIVATING YOUR PHONE

Follow these directions before you leave for the summer:
• Record a new voicemail greeting saying that you’re away for the summer.
• Deactivate your phone before leaving campus.

Recording a new voicemail greeting for the summer:
Your voicemail will continue to work for the summer, so you may want to record a new greeting just in case someone tries to reach you at your BC number. If you have forgotten how, please go to www.bc.edu/help and follow the link to phone & TV.

What is deactivating?
On the day you leave campus for the summer, deactivate your phone by calling 5-DIAL (5-3425). You will enter your ID (the first eight digits on the front of your BC ID card) and PIN number. You will then hear a menu of options. Choose the option to deactivate your phone.

Why bother deactivating your phone?
If you deactivate your phone on the day you leave campus for the summer, and anyone dials your BC number after you leave, it will immediately forward all calls to your voicemail. If you do not deactivate your phone, it will continue to ring in your old room which other students occupy over the summer. If someone plugs a phone into the EagleNet jack that you once used and it rings, it could be a call for you.

If you forget to deactivate your phone before you leave, you can deactivate it from any off-campus phone as well by dialing (617) 655-3425 (DIAL) and following the voice prompts just as you would if you were on campus.
