End-of-the-Year Floor Meetings

This information will be reviewed during an end-of-the-year floor meeting. Please take the opportunity to ask questions. See your Resident Assistant for specific dates and times.

Quiet Hours

Quiet hours for all residence halls begin on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 10:00 p.m. and continue through Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. Please respect your fellow residents as they prepare for finals.

Extensions

Students may apply for a temporary housing extension. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval.

Damages & Trash

All buildings will be inspected by a highly trained Facilities Inspections Team during the months of May and June. Any malicious damages or excessive trash found will be documented and result in fines being applied to your student account during the month of July. Damages found within a room/suite/apartment will be summed and divided amongst all the room's residents. If someone wishes to claim responsibility for a particular item damaged, he/she should email reslife.billing@bc.edu from their BC account, explaining such in detail.

Any suites/bedrooms found with any furniture or excessive trash will be assessed a $500 per-person fine. Please refer to the Check-out Checklist for your specific area for a detailed list of expectations.

Key Return Information

If you were issued a key in the beginning of the year, you are required to return your key before you will be completely checked out. All keys must be returned to Residential Life at the time of check-out. During check-out, you will be signing a check-out form indicating that you did or did not return your key.

The key you return will be checked to ensure it is the same key you were issued at check-in. All invalid keys will be considered lost. Keys will not be accepted by mail, and any key left in a room will be considered lost. Failure to return your key will result in a fine of $20.00 (bedroom doors) or $50.00 (Medeiros, Shaw, Greycliff, Mods).

End-of-Year Billing

If you believe you have been billed in error, you may appeal these charges using the "My ResLife Bill" feature available within "My ResLife" on the Agora Portal.

All appeals must be submitted by August 1, 2012. All charges are non-disputable and non-refundable after August 31, 2012. Please email any questions to reslife.billing@bc.edu.

Shuttle Bus Information

The University Shuttle Bus will run on a regular schedule during study days and final exams. The regular academic shuttle service will stop at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2012. Route information can be viewed on the Transportation & Parking web site at www.bc.edu/shuttle.

Moving & Storage

Our moving and storage company is Piece by Piece Storage. They will be selling boxes to pack up your belongings, storage for the summer, assistance in moving your boxes from your room to your car, and final cleaning packages for your room if you decide to leave stuff behind and want them to clean it up for you. Their web site contains all their pricing information.

No personal moving companies, door-to-door, or storage units (a/k/a PODs) will be allowed onto campus. A limited number of carts are available at some residence halls. It is recommended that you bring your own dolly or cart to facilitate your move.

Your Cleaners, conveniently located in 90 St. Thomas More, offers free summer storage with the use of their dry-cleaning/laundry service.

Personal Belongings

The University does not assume liability or responsibility for belongings left in your room. Arrangements must be made prior to your departure for removal and storage of all personal belongings. All items left behind will be discarded without compensation to the owner.

Microfridge Returns

If you rented a Microfridge refrigerator from Rackraiser, it must be defrosted, cleaned, and dried out. Please leave the unit in your room, and the company will pick it up from there. Refrigerators will be picked up from Upper and Newton Campuses on Monday, May 14, and from Lower Campus on Monday, May 14, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Please completely empty and clean your Microfridge. Your compliance will ensure a continued successful Microfridge Rental Program. If you have moved your Microfridge from its original location or have any questions regarding your unit, please call Rackraiser Customer Service at 978-766-9938.
