ArcGIS
General Information
Short Description: ArcGIS is an integrated collection of geographic information system software and data products.
Long Description: ArcGIS is a desktop geographic information system (GIS) produced by the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI). With ArcGIS you can work with maps, databases, charts and tables all within this single application. ArcGIS' tools offers users the ability to design detailed maps that display the results of data analysis. It is ideal for presenting and gathering information such as spatial geographical and geophysical data, environmental management, disaster monitoring, historical and contemporary census statistics, demographics and regional planning and development information etc. The advantage of using geographical information software is that it allows you analyze data by location thereby illuminating trends that may not be readily recognizable in other formats like spreadsheets and other statistical software packages (adapted from www.esri.com).
