Youth Beginner Tennis
An introductory class for youth beginning at age 5, children will learn tennis techniques, strokes, and practice drills, during these lessons. Classes emphasize technique and basic motor skills. No prior experience necessary! Recommeded for ages 5-8.

Players will receive a brief introduction to tennis with a focus on the development of hand-eye coordination, coordinated footwork, interaction in a group setting, and fun. Classes will often begin with the players controlling the ball in some regard (i.e. balancing on racquet or bouncing up and down), and will almost always include some sort of stroke development and gameplay related to tennis or movement on the court.

Youth Intermediate Tennis
This class is for the more experienced youth tennis player, with an emphasis on advancing technique, drills, and game strategy. This class is recommended for children who have successfully completed Beginner Tennis. Recommended for ages 8-12.

*It is not required that players move up to the Intermediate level upon completion of the beginner course. You can receive feedback, analysis, and advice from the instructor to assist you in the registration decision.

    - Develop groundstrokes and volleys
    - Improve serve and serve-return
    - Learn proper footwork and court movement
    - Modify grips or other technical aspects of strokes when necessary
    - Introduce match-play and strategy
    - Play live-ball drills, games, and matches

The intermediate clinic will provide a more formal introduction to tennis including stroke-specific grips, stroke technique, serving, positioning, and so on. As opposed to the beginner group, players can expect instructor-fed balls and objectives focused on controlling the ball in the court. The intermediate clinic will be faster paced and ask more of the players, specifically a desire to learn and cooperate for the enjoyment of themselves and their peers. Most classes will begin with a warm-up of groundstrokes, progress into further development of a specific stroke or skill, and culminate in a cooperative/competitive game. While each class builds on itself, most every class will have a few minutes for games at the end. Again, the class will center around the development of an enjoyable atmosphere furthering players’ interest in tennis.
