Conte Forum Open Skate

Open skate at Conte Forum is free for those with a valid Campus Recreation Membership and $5.00 per person for non-members with a valid BC ID. Anyone with a BC ID is eligible to bring up to 3 guests (they must remain in the facility with them at all times). Ice passes can be purchased at any time on the day of open skate in the Member Services Office at the Flynn Recreation Complex. Once the fee has been paid, you will be given a receipt to present to the Ice Monitor at the rink.

Please note that participants are responsible for bringing their own equipment, including ice skates and helmets for children under 12. Hockey pucks and sticks are not allowed on the ice during open skate hours.

Children

A parent or legal guardian of a child under 18 is required to sign an entry waiver each time the minor enters any Campus Recreation facility.  Minors may enter the facility with a sponsoring adult that is not a parent or legal guardian, but the proper waiver must be fully completed prior to the arrival of the visiting minor.  The waiver is available in the Member Services office and may be hand delivered to the Ice Monitor.  Minors that are enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student are exempted from this rule.

 

Rules

  1.  SKATE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

  2.  ALL SKATERS MUST SIGN AN ENTRY WAIVER.

  3.  Anyone under the age of 12 MUST WEAR A HELMET.

  4.  Patrons must wear skates when on ICE.  Patrons must provide their own skates.

  5.  In the event of an injury, notify the Ice Monitor or rink personnel IMMEDIATELY.

  6.  Skate counter clockwise unless directed otherwise.

  7.  NO JUMPS OR SPINS

  8.  No more than 2 people may skate together.

  9.  Skating in a manner that endangers or interferes with other skaters' safety is prohibited.

  10.  Tag and other games are prohibited.

  11.  Roughness, excessive speeding or weaving through skaters is prohibited.

  12.  Skaters are NOT to carry children or secondary items such as cameras, handbags, etc. while skating.

  13.  For skaters protection, NO headphones allowed.

  14.  Hockey sticks and pucks are not allowed during public skate.

  15.  Throwing snowballs or any object is prohibited.

  16.  No eating or drinking on the ice surface.

  17.  Patrons must not sit on, lean over, or leave articles on the glass or dasher boards.

  18.  Report any rule violation to a skate guard or rink personnel.

  19.  Please leave ice promptly when horn sounds for ice resurfacing at the end of each session.
