Favorite Outdoor Experience: My favorite outdoor experience was summiting my last of the 46 Adirondack High Peaks, Allen Mountain. My brother and I had set out to conquer all 46 peaks about two months earlier and reaching the top of Allen was the culmination of all our hard work and dedication. The hike up Allen was long and unpleasant, requiring us to wade across two streams, deal with incessant flies, and scramble up a miles worth of slippery wet rocks. But the difficulty of the hike just made the impending success that much greater. Even the wooded summit and less-than-ideal weather of that day could not take away my feelings of fulfillment and accomplishment. I had always dreamed of getting my 46er since I was a kid, so finally reaching the top of Allen was so rewarding and reinvigorated my passion for the outdoors.

Favorite Outdoor Experience: One of my favorite outdoor experiences happened while skiing at Sugarbush in Vermont. It had snowed 9 inches the night before but the lack of snow over the course of the winter left most of the lifts closed. My friends and I were skiing down and found a side route, which we thought would be an in-and-out glade, but instead took us deeper than expected and we were forced to hike with our skis off. Another skier caught up to us and we asked where the trail went. He explained that the trail lead a mile and a half across the mountain to an open trail only accessible by hiking due to lift closures. We hiked for about half an hour until we popped out at the peak and continued to ski down for an awesome run of knee deep, untouched powder. Best run of my life.

We got to explore small islands on the lake and take some time away from our phones and internet which is always nice. Sign up for a trip with OA!
