Mike Stephens currently serves as the head coach of the varsity swimming and diving program. Mike swam for Boston College as an undergraduate and has served in a coaching role since July 2013 alongside head coach of 45 years, Tom Groden (who retired this past December). Prior to that, Mike spent some time as an assistant coach with the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club (Maryland), where he competed as a club swimmer. During the four years Mike has been coaching at BC, the program has seen some of its most successful seasons. Over the last four seasons alone, Mike has helped guide both teams to winning records and has seen school records set 72 times. In fact, on the men’s side, Mike has seen every single school record go down, many of which dated back to the 1990s.
Mike will be coaching Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:05 - 7:05 am.
Dan Kelly is a recent Boston College graduate (BC Swimming Class of 2016) and serves as the assistant coach of the varsity swim team. Dan has incredible experience as an athlete; he holds multiple Boston College school records in the sprint freestyle and butterfly events and competed in the 2016 Olympic Trials. His club background includes swimming for Team Millennium in Oak Park, IL under Coach Kathy Rigali and for Cal Aquatics in Berkeley, CA under Coach Dave Durden. Dan was a star athlete and an even better leader while he was a member of the team and has transitioned exceptionally into a coaching role.
Dan will be coaching Mondays & Wednesdays 6:05 - 7:05 am.
