Andy Kurmakov

Andy Kurmakov

Andy started swimming when he was seven years old and began competing when 11 years old. In grade school and high school he was a member of United States Swimming club Massachusetts Bay Marlins and Brookline High School swim team. His favorite events were sprint Butterfly, Backstroke and Freestyle. He competed in MIAA state swimming championships, New England Age group, New England Junior and New England Senior championships. Over the years he has also taught swim lessons to people of various ages and skill levels and coached age group and high school swimmers. He looks forward to coaching and training with BC masters swim team.

Andy will be coaching Wed & Thurs 6:05 - 7:05 am.

Cameron Howe

Cameron Howe

Cameron Howe is joining the BC Recreation Masters Coaching Staff for this year. Cameron is from Zionsville, Indiana (just outside of Indianapolis). He is a current sophomore at Boston College majoring in Political Science and Theology with a minor in Biology on the Pre-med track. He was a competitive swimmer for 15 years swimming for various USA Swimming clubs (Lebanon Swim Club, Washington Township Swim Club, and Zionsville Swim Club). He was a member of the Boston College Men’s Swimming and Diving Team for his freshman year here at BC (2014-2015) and competed in the IM, the breaststroke and the backstroke events for the Eagles throughout the year. He has competed in 30 consecutive state meets back in Indiana and is a multiple time age group state finalist, state champion, and a member of some record holding relays both at the state level, and club level as well as a record holder for his club team (Zionsville Swim Club) in a variety of individual events (mainly breaststroke and IM). In high school, he was a state qualifier and was a varsity letter winner all four years and was the team captain and MVP both his junior and senior year and was an Academic All-American his senior year in the state of Indiana. Throughout his swimming career, he has competed for team Indiana on a national level four times and is still an avid lover of swimming (swims on a regular basis still). On a coaching level, he has been the head coach of the summer league team in Zionsville for 4 years and has been an assistant age group coach for Zionsville Swim Club for a year. He worked as a volunteer coach for the Masters Program in Zionsville this past summer and is really looking forward to working with the Masters Swimming Program here at BC Rec this coming year. 

Cameron will be coaching on Mon & Tues 6:05 - 7:05 am.

Whitney - Swim Instructor

Taylor

Taylor is a junior in CSOM pursuing a BS in Management with concentrations in Finance and Corporate Reporting & Analysis as well as minors in Mathematics and History. Taylor hails from Yorktown Heights, New York and has been swimming since he was six. Before college, Taylor swam year-round competitively for nine years. Since arriving on The Heights Taylor has competed for the Men’s Club Water Polo team and now serves as a team officer. Taylor is a Red Cross certified Lifeguard  and Water Safety Instructor. Additionally, Taylor spent the summer after his freshmen as an Assistant Swim Coach for his local recreational team. Taylor very much looks forward to sharing his love and enthusiasm for swimming with all who are seeking lessons!

Taylor will be coaching Wed 6:05 - 7:05 pm.

Whitney - Swim Instructor

Estephen

Estephen is a Senior enrolled in the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He is also a member of the BC Men’s Swimming and Diving team, primarily swimming butterfly. He has swum competitively for 10 years, starting with club swimming in his hometown of Long Beach, CA. He has been a swim instructor for four years, and has worked with all ages and levels, from infants to club-ready swimmers. Estephen loves working with children and will use his expertise in the water to better develop your child’s swimming skills.

Estephen will be coaching Mon & Thurs 6:05 - 7:05 pm.

Loren - Swim Instructor

Loren

Loren is from Westfield, New Jersey and will be returning as a Master’s coach for her third and final semester. She is currently a senior enrolled in the Connell School of Nursing at Boston College. She was a competitive swimmer for 16 years and swam for Westfield YMCA, Westfield High School, and Boston College. She was a member of the Boston College Swimming and Diving Team for both the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 seasons and mainly swam the 50 and 100 Freestyle. In high school, she was a varsity letter winner all four years and was the team captain and MVP her senior year. Her team won State Championships in 2010, 2011, and 2012 and was ranked the #1 team in New Jersey history during her junior year. She received All-American Recognition in the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays and holds two high school records in these events. She was also recognized as First-Team All County in the 50 Freestyle, and was Westfield’s only Female Union County Scholar Athlete. She competed at YMCA nationals in the 50 and 100 Freestyle as well as several relays. On a coaching level, she was the assistant swim coach of the Beacon Hill Club swim team for 2 consecutive summers. She is really looking forward to working with the Masters Swimming Program during her final semester. 

Loren will be coaching Tues 6:05 - 7:05 pm.

Caroline Byron

Caroline Byron

Caroline, a native to Dallas, Pennsylvania, is returning to the Master's swim program after previously coaching from 2009-2012. She is a 2009 graduate of Boston College’s Lynch School of Education with minors in Theology and Studio Art in Arts and Sciences. After completing her Masters in Counseling Psychology from Boston College in 2013, she began a doctoral program in clinical psychology. Her swimming background includes a four time letter winner for the BC Eagles and two individual Boston College records in the 100 and 200 freestyle. She was twice chosen the MVP - the 2007 and 2009 season. Caroline is the all-time leader at Boston College with 147 victories. She was a recipient of the ACC Post Graduate Scholarship in 2009 for her achievements in academics, athletics and service to the community.
