Rugby's 50th Anniversary

50th Anniversary of Boston College Rugby

2018 marks the 50th anniversary of Boston College Rugby. The celebration will take place at Boston College on April 27 and 28, and will involve the entire BC rugby community, from “The Originals” of 1968 to this year’s students, and all the alumni in between. The weekend is a celebration of both BCRFC and BCWRFC, under one umbrella as Boston College Rugby Club. All alumni of Men’s and Women’s teams for the past 50 years are welcome, as well as spouses and significant others, along with friends of our community. It is a chance for all of us to come together, to relive old memories, and support the club as it looks toward the future.

The weekend will be a celebration of all our former and current Rugby alumni! Our current Men's and Women's Rugby players will join us. We understand that we cannot accommodate all 1,000 plus Boston College Rugby community members at all of these events. However, we would love to see you at the Alumni game which is free and we will take a Boston College Rugby community photo to capture the last 50 years as we look towards the future! Please do your best to join us for this great weekend and make sure to get the word out to all of your old teammates. We’re looking forward to making this a stellar celebration!

Saturday, April 28

Saturday will begin at 12:30 pm with Mass in St. Ignatius celebrated by Father Fleming, specifically for the Rugby community.

Alumni Rugby Game
From 2 - 4 pm, we will hold a rugby game at Alumni Stadium. We will formally recognize and honor Ken Daly at the game. We will take a picture of all Alumni, current players, and coaches during this event. The women's game will take place at 2:00pm and the men's game will immediately follow at 3:15pm.

Cocktail Reception and Dinner (SOLD OUT)
At 6:00 pm, we will hold a cocktail hour and formal dinner with speakers at the Boston College Club in downtown Boston. We will celebrate Ken Daly's amazing 50 years of contribution to BC Rugby, the Women's 1992 National Championship, and many other significant achievements along the way. Equally important will be the chance to reconnect with old teammates and meet players from past and prior generations. The cost for dinner will be $125 per person, and all excess proceeds will go to the benefit of the BC Rugby Club. As we know we cannot accommodate all 1,000 plus alumni at this event, we have provided different discounted ticket options to allow the event to be as accessible as possible.

While the Saturday dinner is $125 per person to attend, the rest of the weekend is free and open to all, including those who will not be attending the dinner. We understand that the cost of attendance could prohibit some alumni from attending, that is why the individual meetups, mass, and game are all free.

All Boston College parking rules and and regulations will be upheld during these events. Please park in either the Beacon Garage or the Commonwealth Ave Garage. Surface lot parking is not permitted and is subject to ticketing. Visit the university Parking & Transportation website for more information.

If you require handicap parking, please e-mail Kenny Turbush at by Thursday, April 26th at 12:00 pm.
