Campus Recreation offers many opportunities for undergraduate and graduate student employment.

If you would like to apply for any positions, fill out the PDF application, save it to your computer and hand deliver it to the Member Services Office in the Flynn Recreation Complex. Some jobs may not have a PDF application. Instead, email the listed documents or information to the person listed in the job description.

Marketing/Graphic Design Assistant

Job Description

  • Design posters, flyers, TV slides, schedules, forms, etc.
  • Update Campus Recreation Website
  • Help with various other projects

Requirements

  • Must be able to work August 6 - 20
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of basic HTML 
  • Photography skill preferred
  • Creative with good organizational skills
  • A portfolio of your work ready to submit

Starting pay rate: $11.75/hr

Lifeguard

Job Description

  • Prevent aquatic-related emergencies as a member of a risk management team
  • Provide great customer service
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks
  • Assist with special needs of members and guests in compliance with ADA regulations
  • Assist as a member of an event management team

Requirements

  • Current CPR/AED, First Aid & Lifeguard certifications
  • Pass staff in-service skill test
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent physical and mental strength

Water Safety Instructions (Private/Semi-Private Swim Lessons)

Camp Counselor

Job Description
Camp Counselors are responsible for supervising a group of children between the ages of 7-12. Essential job functions include planning and facilitating daily activities, managing behavior, and ensuring the children’s safety at all times while acting as a positive role model. Camp activities include active games, board games, crafts, swimming, and various themed activities. Each counselor will work 4-8 hours each day between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm, Monday-Friday, during the 6 weeks of camp. The ideal candidate is both energetic and enthusiastic, but also responsible with strong communication skills.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Previous experience working with children in a recreational, educational, and/or large group setting
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification
  • Ability to pass the Campus Recreation swim test
  • Committed to work 30 hours per week for 6 weeks: June 25 – August 3, 2018
  • Ability to attend mandatory training & orientation June 18 – June 22, 2018

Starting pay rate: $12.00

Camp Nurse

Job Description
The Camp Nurse performs all the same duties as a Camp Counselor, but in addition is responsible for responding to any medical needs the camp may have. These duties include reviewing camper medical paperwork, meeting with parents on the first day of each camp to discuss any medications a camper might need, administering regular medication to campers, documenting all administered medications, documenting all injuries, consulting with the camp’s Physician’s Assistant, and providing first aid/medical care for campers when needed. The camp nurse is the first responder to all health and injury related incidents which occur at camp and must have a good understanding of how to treat injuries and respond to health related incidents.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate/graduate nursing student or certified EMT
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Previous experience working with children in a recreational, educational, and/or large group setting, preferably in a camp setting
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification

Yoga Instructor

Requirements

  • Yoga Alliance RYT Certified
  • Valid adult, child and infant CPR/AED and First Aid certification upon hire (can complete after hire, but before first shift)

Responsibilities

  • Instruct safe and effective yoga classes

  • Maintain positive, upbeat and helpful attitude
  • Prepare music and workouts
  • Maintain room cleanliness and equipment organization

Hourly Rate: $16.00/hr then $20/hr after one semester of teaching

Facility Maintenance

Job Description

  • Light cleaning, vacuuming, and organizing
  • Facility set-up and breakdown
  • Available shifts: Monday - Friday 8 am - 4 pm

Requirements

  • Physically strong and able to perform lifting/moving
  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • Works well independently

Member Services Attendant

Job Description
Member Services Attendants are responsible for assisting all of our members and guests. They will be required to adhere to strict policies and procedures and willing to learn many different processes. The attendant will be responsible for selling memberships, lockers, towel service and registering our faculty, staff, students and members of the community for various programs. Attendant will also be responsible for filing and keeping very accurate accounts of daily sales. Applicant will assist the Member Services Manager with various administrative projects.

Desired Qualifications
We are looking for applicants that are outgoing and will be engaging with members. Applicant must be extremely organized and have very strong communication skills both in person and over the phone. The applicant will need to have the ability to learn new recreation software and be comfortable with Google docs and other Word applications. The attendant must be able to work independently and be comfortable acting as the main contract person for all memberships and programming questions.

Must be available to work May 29 - August 25.

Equipment Desk Attendants are responsible for checking and recording inventory throughout the day. Attendants will assist our members who would like to check out an item for their daily use. They will be responsible for sales using various forms of payment. In addition they will be responsible for booking reservations for courts and spin classes. The attendant will also be responsible for having an understanding of Campus Recreation offerings to act as an information desk for members. Attendant will also be responsible for keeping area clean at all times and laundry for our towel service.

Desired Qualifications
We are looking for applicants that are outgoing and will be engaging with our members. Applicants will need to be able to pay close attention to conditions of returned items and be able to ask for payment on any damaged equipment returned. The attendant will also need to be organized and willing to keep area clean at all times.

Must be available to work May 29 - August 25.

Tennis Instructor

Job Description

Fall 2018 Available Positions

Quonset Hut Monitor - Newton Campus (Academic Year Only)

Job Description

  • Responsible for safety and security of the facility
  • Monitor facility access
  • Opening and closing of the facility
  • First responder to all injuries & incidents
  • Responsible for equipment check-out and sales of guest passes
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the all spaces including re-racking weights and cleaning equipment
  • Enforcing the policies of Campus Recreation and of the Quonset Hut facility
  • Significant interaction with members, students, faculty/staff, guests

Requirements

  • Access to Newton Campus
  • CPR/AED & First Aid Certified
  • Ability to lift objects at least 45 lbs.
  • Customer focused individuals
  • Willing to work mornings (starting at 7:45am), nights (until 11:00pm), and weekends
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Outgoing personality
  • Good communication skills

Training will be provided.
