Boston College Update to Parents 4-19-13
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (4-19-13): Boston College Executive Vice President Patrick J. Keating earlier this morning sent the following e-mail update to parents of BC students:
As you likely know, Massachusetts State Emergency Management officials have asked businesses, schools and colleges in six cities and towns - Boston, Cambridge, Belmont, Newton, Waltham and Watertown - to remain closed today as the manhunt continues in the Watertown area for an at-large suspect in the Marathon bombing attack.
Officials have asked local residents to remain in their homes. MBTA service is also suspended.
BC Police are closely monitoring the Boston College campus. While they believe that the campus is safe, they are reiterating the State request that all residents shelter in place until further notice.
As a result, all services on campus are currently suspended, and students are being advised to remain inside their dorm rooms and apartments until alerted otherwise.
BC Dining services is working to find ways to make food available to students on campus.
We advise you to check in with your sons and daughters throughout the day.
As updates become available, we will post them on BCInfo at www.bc.edu/bcinfo.
Executive Vice President
