Services for STM Grad Student Sangmin Tae 8/7
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (8-6-13)—Funeral services will be held in Brookline on Wednesday, August 7, for Sangmin Tae, a graduate student in the School of Theology and Ministry who died following an automobile accident in Connecticut on Friday morning.
Tae, a native of South Korea, is survived by family members including his wife, Jae Soon Yoo, and their baby daughter, who was born six hours after the accident occurred at 7:41 a.m. on Interstate 95 in Hartford. Both mother and baby are reported to be in good condition and were expected to be released from the hospital on Monday.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Korean Church of Boston, 32 Harvard St., Brookline, MA. The family invites friends and classmates to join them in a celebration of Tae’s life.
Tae was pursuing a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies and worked closely with Professor of Moral Theology James T. Bretzke, S.J. His academic work examined solutions to religious conflict through the social scientific and theological study of cultures.
“As we feel the loss as a school community and remember Sangmin, I ask that you keep him and his loved ones in your prayers,” STM Dean Mark Massa, S.J., wrote in an email to faculty and students.
Details about a campus ceremony in Tae's memory will be announced at a later date.
Expressions of sympathy can be sent to The School of Theology and Ministry or to the Korean Church of Boston, 32 Harvard St., Brookline, MA, 02445.
