Many organizations at Boston College promote their events by sending out HTML email flyers. The Office of Marketing Communications has built a tool that allows groups within the university to create and distribute these flyers without knowing HTML. Users may also edit PDF versions of the templates to print out and distribute.
Follow these simple instructions to build and send an HTML email flyer:

For Safari and MacMail users
- Select a template from the downloaded files and open it in Safari
- From the File menu, select Mail Contents of this page
- Edit the text and, if desired, add images to the template. Once you are satisfied with the template, send yourself a test before emailing your entire list.
To insert or replace a photo inside a template
- Locate the photo you want to use
- Drag photo directly into the message
For Internet Explorer and Outlook users
- Select a template from the downloaded files and open it in Internet Explorer
- From the File menu, select Send>Page by Email
- Edit the text and, if desired, add images to the template. Once you are satisfied with the template, send yourself a test before emailing your entire list.
To insert or replace a photo inside a template
- In the mail message, choose Insert>Picture
- Locate the photo you want to use
- Select formatting options
- Click OK
Installing templates into Microsoft Outlook 2003
Microsoft Outlook allows you to download templates as Stationery. If you would prefer to access the templates that way, please follow these directions:
- Open Microsoft Outlook
- From the top menu, choose Tools>Options
- Select the Mail Format tab
- In the Stationery and Fonts section, select Stationery Picker
- Select New
- In the Create New Stationery window, enter the name of the template
- From the list, choose Use this file as a template
- Select Browse
- Navigate to the download template files and select the one you want to install
- Back in the Create New Stationery window, select Next
- In the Edit Stationery window, select Cancel
- In Stationery Picker, select OK
- Microsoft Outlook automatically chooses the installed stationery as the default template for emails. In the Stationery and Fonts section, select None from the dropdown
- Select Apply, then OK
To insert or replace a photo inside a template
- In the mail message, select Insert>Picture
- Locate the photo you want to use
- Select formatting options
- Click OK
