It has been another engaging semester and the Graduate International Student Association wishes to express season’s greetings to the entire Boston College community. We would like to especially thank everyone for their continued support. This semester we had a number of activities including our Culture & Diversity Team’s event and General Meeting in October; our Education & Service Team’s collaboration with the Office of International Programs in leading the events: “International Perspectives: Students’ Voices and Insights” and “International Perspectives: Faculty/Staff Voices and Insights” as part of International Education Week in November; and our Social & Entertainment Team’s Movie Night at the Fenway Regal Cinema where we watched The Life of Pi.
We are excited about the next semester. In January 2013 we will host a Conference Presentation Seminar to provide guidelines and tips for international students who may be making presentations at conferences in the spring. And in continuing our “Connecting Cultures on Campus” series we will be collaborating with the Graduate AHANA Student Association, Graduate Education Association, and a number of other groups in hosting an international culture and cuisine event. So look out for these and other exciting events.
We would like to say special thanks to Rutendo Chandiwana of Zimbabwe. She is a student in the Graduate School of Social Work who has served on GISA’s Leadership Team since 2011. At the end of this semester, Rutendo will be doing a semester of service and practice in Africa, before she returns for graduation in May. We want to thank her for her contribution to the GISA family and wish her the best in her work overseas.
All the best in your studies, finals and the conclusion of another semester.
And Happy Holidays!
The Leadership Team
