Student Leadership Awards

Award plaques

Each year ODSD presents awards to outstanding undergraduate student leaders at Boston College. The awards recognize the contributions of students to the co-curricular life of the University, students' growth in leadership roles, and students' creative involvement in campus life.

Freshman Welcome

Freshman Welcome is a series of events where first year students have the opportunity to meet one another. Events in previous years have included a lobsterbake, a trip to Six Flags, and a comedy night.

Student Judicial Board

The Student Judicial Board exists to provide students charged with violating the University Code of Student Conduct the opportunity to be heard in a fair and impartial environment by a board of their peers.

Emerging Leader Program

The Emerging Leader Program (ELP) is a one-year leadership development program for a select group of 50 first year students. ELP enhances leadership skills and potential; fosters interpersonal, social, ethical, and moral development; and instills an attitude of social awareness and responsibility.

Senior Week

Fun and exciting events for seniors occur during Senior Week, which takes place before Commencement. Past events have included a trip to Six Flags, a Mardi Gras event, a Red Sox game, Dance Through the Decades, and the Commencement Ball.

International Assistant Program

International Assistants serve as one-on-one peer advisors to new international students throughout their first year in order to help them adjust to life at BC.

Global Proficiency Program

A certificate program that encourages and rewards students who choose to incorporate an international or multicultural focus in their academic, co-curricular, and service activities at BC.

Boston College Bands Program
The Boston College Bands Program consists of several bands, a dance team, and chamber ensembles. The Bands Program attracts Boston College's finest musicians and performers.

University Chorale
The University Chorale performs throughout the Boston area as well as internationally. Concert tours have included Rome, Italy, and San Juan.

WZBC 90.3 FM
WZBC is a 1000-watt college radio station that can be heard throughout the greater Boston area. It is completely operated by full-time undergraduates at Boston College.

John Courtney Murray, S.J. Graduate Student Center
Graduate students come together as a community at the Murray Graduate Student Center. The Center offers a computer lab, study and meeting rooms, presentations, discussions, and social functions with faculty and administrators.

O'Connell House Student Union
O'Connell House offers programming such as films and lectures, provides meeting space for BC student groups, and serves as a quiet study facility. O'Connell House also hosts major University events such as the Middlemarch Ball.

McElroy Commons
McElroy Commons houses Campus Ministry, the Women's Resource Center, Volunteer and Service Learning Center, Boston College Bookstore, Ticket Booth, Mail Room, Administrative Dietitian, and the offices of many student organizations.
