The Global Proficiency Program was created at Boston College in 1999. It is a joint venture between Student Affairs, the Office of International Programs, and Academic Affairs. Since the first class graduated in 2000, the program has been adopted by several universities in the United States and abroad. The GP program attracts high caliber students from all majors with an interest in international and multicultural issues. Students in the program take an integrated approach to their international experience, academic coursework, and co-curricular activities. Upon successful completion of the program graduates receive an official Global Proficiency transcript and certificate.
