Tutor Request Procedures

Learning Resources for Student-Athletes Tutorial Program

Remember, everyone can use a tutor-Do not fall victim to the myth that only those students who are failing need a tutor. Use the tutor to go from a C to a B, or even from a B to an A. Everyone can use a tutor!!

If you find yourself in need of a tutor, please follow the below process to secure a tutor.

· Talk with your LRSA counselor.
· The counselor will fill out a tutor request form.
· Read the tutee policies and procedures with the academic counselor.
· The tutorial coordinator will phone you ASAP with the name and phone number of the tutor.
· If you do not hear from the tutorial coordinator within a week you need to contact your counselor.
· You are expected to be prepared to meet with the tutor as soon as the match is made.

Policies and Procedures
· Sessions will begin by the second week of the semester. You must contact the tutor within one week of the original match. Otherwise the match is void.
· Tutors will not do assignments; so you should come to tutorial sessions having already completed or at least attempted the homework or assignments.
· You need to come to each meeting prepared to ask questions and ready to discuss lectures, texts, and other assignments.
· If you miss two appointments, the sessions with that particular subject tutor will be terminated and you will lose your tutorial privileges.
· A missed appointment is defined as:
A. being 15 minutes late for an appointment
B. missing the appointment entirely
· Your LRSA counselor will notify your coach when you miss a tutorial appointment.
· It is your responsibility to contact the tutor, by phone, to cancel an appointment at least a day before the appointment. If your are unable to contact the tutor, you should call LRSA and leave a message for the tutor coordinator. If a tutor is contacted a few hours before an appointment, LRSA will consider it a no-show. If a session is missed due to last minute extenuating circumstances, both the tutor coordinator and the academic counselor must be informed immediately.
· If a tutor misses an appointment, your need to contact the tutor coordinator at LRSA.
· The tutor's viewpoint on appointment cancellation and other issues will be held in a high regard.
· You will need to sign the tutor's report after each session in order for the tutor to be paid.

LRSA wants to know your opinions about the quality of assistance that the tutors give. Just as they are responsible for evaluating the student-athlete, you are also responsible for evaluating them. Students should discuss tutorial work with their academic counselor on a regular basis.

Both tutor and tutee have the responsibility to do certain things
· Be on time for meetings
· Call 24 hours in advance if he/she cannot make the scheduled meeting time
