Boston College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) -
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, under the auspices of Jody Mooradian, Senior Associate Athletic Director & Sr. Women's Administrator , is an active and involved group of student-athletes that provides feedback to the LRSA office, the Athletic Advisory Board, and the Athletic Association. The board also organizes community service projects such HEAR (Helping Educate through Athletic Responsibility) and St Francis Hospital Volunteer Visitation program.
The Board (from here on referred to as the committee) was chartered in 1988 with the appointment of twelve student-athletes. The committee has expanded to a membership representing all teams. The committee meets bi-monthly throughout the academic year. Committee membership is open to everyone and officers are elected by their peers.
The Committee has sponsored numerous programs that serve the community, especially children. Some of the programs and projects in which the committee participates on an annual basis include Campus School activities, Annual Food Drive in cooperation with the Boston Food Bank, Student-Athlete Career Night, semi-annual peer advising sessions, fund-raising events, student-athlete surveys and the publication of the student-athlete newsletters.
A Community Service Project that has continued for many years is the Pen Pal Program which continues to be ajoing venture between the SAAC and the Office of Learning Resources for Student-Athletes .
The goals of all activities are to establish and develop the community of student-athletes and to serve the broader communities of Boston College and its neighbors.
