Don't forget these items when you move to BC
- Your computer (Not buying from BC? Be sure to view the minimum requirements for campus computers.)
- Make sure your operating system is up-to-date. To obtain information regarding Windows and Mac updates, go to: www.bc.edu/security
- Before bringing your computer to campus, make sure you have the required BC anti-virus software (go to: www.bc.edu/virus). If you don't, your computer could get a virus within 15 minutes of being on the Internet and infected computers get disconnected from the BC network!
- Lock for your laptop (Protect your investment!)
- A power strip with surge protection
- Ethernet cable (included with BC laptops)
- Corded touch-tone phone (Cordless phone users report interference on campus.)
- Coaxial cable for your TV
- Know your BC username & password
- Log into Agora Portal, review your privacy preferences, and change your password.
IMPORTANT - Please provide your cell phone number so that the University can contact you in case of an emergency/crisis situation. Always keep your contact information current. - Remember to read the "Get Connected" (PDF), which will be on your bed when you move in. It will help you activate your phone and get your Internet access set up. - Prepare to print. Printers are available for purchase through the BC Laptop Program or your favorite retailer. Students can also print to laser printers in the Campus Technology Resource Center (CTRC) from anywhere on campus. Students are credited 500 free pages of print output per semester.
