Your Username and Password

You should have already received your Username and Password from Student Services. You will use these credentials to access Agora Portal (the campus intranet), register for classes, and log in to your BC email account.

Important: Before you do anything else, you need to go into Agora Portal, click U-View - Your Personal Records under My Services. Then, check Privacy Preferences and click Submit Request to set your Privacy Preferences. This is where you can allow or suppress your contact information from appearing in Boston College electronic and printed directories.

Your Email account

Your BC email account will be automatically generated and ready for use by the time you arrive on campus. You should use the email address format: firstname.lastname.#@bc.edu. You can look up BC email addresses in the BC Directory.

Prefer to use another email account? Forward your BC Account

Faculty and Administrators will write to you at your BC email address. If you prefer to use a different account, you should set your email account to forward.

Spam Quarnatine

To reduce the amount of spam you receive to your BC email account, Boston College uses a Spam Blocking Service which quarantines email it identifies as spam.  Quarantined mail is subject to automatic deletion. Periodically, you need to check the quarantine to ensure that no valid messages were incorrectly quarantined. You can add addresses to block or safelist addresses that were incorrectly identified as spam. You may also request a daily digest of quarantined messages. Learn how at: BC's Spam Quarantine Service.

WebMail

You can access your email over the web from any location, on or off campus. Just go to: mail.bc.edu.

Prefer to use Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc.?

If you prefer to use a more robust email client, any IMAP client can be configured to access your BC email account. View instructions for configuring Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, and others.

Campus Groups

Campus Groups auto-generates class rosters and email lists, making it easy to see photo pages or communicate with those in your classes. You can also use Campus Groups to easily create email distribution groups and voicemail distribution groups. Campus Groups is available as one of the many services in your Agora Portal menu.
