The reliance on computer resources in the past two decades has emphasized the importance of the security of computers and the information stored and used by them.
There is a great need for security: the University's computers need to be protected from hackers and from unscheduled downtime. There is also a great need for privacy: the information that individuals store on computers ought to be confidential. The mission of the Computer Policy and Security group is to create an environment in which the community's need to protect information is balanced with the community's need for privacy.
