Planning a Vacation?

If you are going to be out-of-the-office around the time of your scheduled Moving Day, please make sure that you are prepared.

Out-of-Office (Auto-Reply) Messages
Out-of-Office (Auto-Reply) Messages will need to be reset using Outlook or OWA. Learn how.

Custom Auto-Reply's messages will also need to be reset. Learn how.

Forwarding
Forwarding will stop during your account's migration. A form within the Portal is being developed to replace the current mail forwarding form for faculty and staff. This form is not yet available. If you currently have your account set to forward, you will be contacted by the Project Support Team regarding having the forward reset for you. If you are a heavy calendar user, forwarding your Exchange account to another account is not recommended.

Do you use a mobile device?
If you use a mobile device and will be away, we recommend the following:

  1. You should sync your device in your usual manner prior to leaving. You must sync prior to the scheduled time of the required calendar outage. (For the October 20th Pilot, the calendar outage will occur from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on October 19th.) New entries (calendar, contacts, tasks) or any modification should NOT be added directly to the device until after the device has been configured for Exchange. You should be cautious on the first synchronization. Make sure that you back up entries that exist on the device before the initial sync. If you want to add calendar data that needs to be retained, you must add it either to CampusTime (up until the outage) or to Exchange via Outlook Web Access (after 9 a.m. on your scheduled Moving Day).
  2. If you need access to email in the Exchange environment from your iPhone or Windows Mobile device, we suggest that you configure your device for IMAP mail until you return to BC where a member of the Exchange Support Team can assist you.
    1. iPhone or iPod touch IMAP setup
    2. Windows Mobile 5 IMAP setup
    3. Windows Mobile 6.1 IMAP setup
  3. BlackBerry users should configure a BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) Email Account for the BC Exchange Environment. Learn how
