Unsupported Email Programs

email and calendaring project

The following email programs are no longer supported by Information Technology Services. If your primary email program is one of the following, please read the recommendations provided. If you use an email program not listed, select "Other."

IMAP Configuration Settings for Exchange (PDF - BC authentication required)

Microsoft Entourage

Although Entourage can be configured for IMAP or an integrated email and calendaring program with Exchange, the Exchange Project Team does NOT recommend that you use Entourage and Information Technology Services will not, at this time, support it. In testing Entourage in the Exchange environment, too many problems and inconsistencies were revealed.

Recommendations for Entourage users: Switch to Entourage Web Services
We recommend that you upgrade to Entourage Web Services. Entourage Web Services requires that you have Microsoft Office 2008 installed with Service Pack 12.2.1. Learn more

Netscape Mail

Netscape Mail will not work properly in the Exchange environment and is no longer supported by Information Technology Services.

Recommendations for Netscape Mail users: Switch to Thunderbird

We recommend that you switch to Thunderbird since it is very similar to Netscape Mail.

Please upgrade prior to your scheduled move day to Exchange. Access the Technology Help Email web page for software links and documentation on configuring supported email programs for the current BC Email system.

Mozilla Thunderbird Version 1.x

This version of Thunderbird is outdated and is no longer supported by Information Technology Services.

Recommendations for Thunderbird Version 1.x users: Upgrade Thunderbird

We ask that you upgrade your version of Thunderbird prior to your scheduled move day to Exchange. Access the Technology Help Email web page for software links and documentation on configuring supported email programs for the current BC Email system.

Other

If you use another IMAP email program, we cannot offer advice on how, or if, it will work with the BC Exchange environment.
