What To Do After You Configure Your Email

email and calendaring project

After configuring your email to Exchange, some features you may have had before need to be recreated:

  1. Depending on the type of rule/filter you MAY need to recreate/reset them. Mozilla Thunderbird Rules (PDF) OS X Apple Mail - Working with Rules.
  2. If you want to allow others to serve as a delegate to your calendar, or to be able to view the details of your calendar (other than free/busy time), you need to set permissions using Outlook.

Outlook Customization
Since Outlook creates a new Exchange profile rather than reconfiguring an existing profile, all customization must be recreated.

Reopen Additional Personal Folders
If you had created additional personal folders (local archives, etc.), they will need to be reopened in the new Exchange Profile.

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. From the File menu, select New > Outlook Data File.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Browse for the personal folders (.pst files) that you would like to reopen.

Add your BC Group Email Account to the Exchange Profile

If you use Outlook to view a BC group account, configuration for the group account will be lost when the new Exchange profile is created. You will need to add the account to your Exchange Profile.

  1. Open Outlook 2007.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings.
  3. Click New.
  4. Select the IMAP option.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Enter the name of the group account, in the Your Name box.
  7. Enter the email address for the account in the Email Address box.
  8. Enter the NEW alphanumeric password for the account and then type it again in the confirm password box.
  9. Click Next.
