FAQ: Moving from Collage to Day CQ5

day web cms project

When will I be trained in Day?

When your site is converted to Day, you will receive training. We'll contact you several weeks prior to your site conversion and arrange the training at a time that's convenient for you.

How will my site be converted from Collage to Day?

This will be handled by the Web Tech Group, using a custom script that migrates BC.edu templates in Collage to those same templates in Day.

How will the conversion process work?

  1. Please contact the Web Technology Group: websupport@bc.edu
  2. OMC and Web Tech will work together to prioritize the site requests as they come in.
  3. Someone from the Web Tech Group in ITS will contact you to let you know your site is in the next batch of sites in our queue.

    • With 200 web sites to convert, the process will take more than a year. Several months could pass from the time you submit the form until you're contacted.
    • The Web Tech team will convert 2-5 sites each week, depending on the size, complexity and technical issues involved with each site
    • Converting a site that uses custom templates will be a separate project and will require significantly more time to convert. These will be treated as individual projects and we'll work with the site owners and OMC to schedule this work.

  4. You'll be invited to a training session on how to use Day's CQ5 software.
  5. When you complete the training, your site will be available in Day, ready for you to work on.
  6. When you're comfortable editing the site in Day, you can contact the Web Tech team and arrange a date on which the new Day site will be launched. (We'll need at least 10 days notice).
  7. The Web Tech team will perform the initial launch to ensure there are no issues. Your Collage site will be archived, and you'll use Day from then on.

I signed up a while ago. Where is my site in the queue?

Currently we're planning 6-8 weeks out. You'll hear from us several weeks before your planned conversion. If you have further questions on the site conversion queue, please contact Brock Dilworth in OMC.
