How was Adobe CQ selected?
Boston College selected Adobe Software's Communiqué 5 ("CQ5") as a replacement for the Serena Collage web publishing system in 2009. During six months of analysis, the Web Tech team surveyed the web community on the requirements for the new tool, developed a set of business and technical requirements, reviewed dozens of products, and ultimately reduced the field to four semi-finalists.
Twenty web site contributors from across campus attended the final vendor presentations and overwhelmingly selected this product based on ease of use and the features available.
About Adobe Software
Adobe Software is an international company focused on web content management and creative digital software. CQ5 is the newest release of a web content mangement system that has been adopted by a number of high profile corporations including GM, USB, and Braun.
Who else is using Adobe CQ?
University clients include: NYU, Oklahoma University, Villanova, Penn State Libraries, and the University of Phoenix online. During our evaluation we contacted and received positive reviews from other universities.
CQ5 is a solid web development platform that closely follows web standards. The technical staff of Adobe has been active in several core web technologies including development of the Java and Apache web server specifications.
More importantly, CQ5 was viewed by our selection team as the most user friendly system for non-technical editors. It significantly streamlines the process of updating pages and publishing them.
