The Voice Services group is responsible for all aspects of the Boston College Telephone system. This group performs maintenance, repair, installations, moves, additions, and changes to the physical telephone plant. Responsibilities include:
- Telecommunications contracts, negotiation, rate structuring and programming, bid and vendor relations
- Billing, invoicing, budget forecasting, bill reconciliation, payment disbursements
- Toll Free 800 number services and contracts
- FCC Regulatory oversight and tariff monitoring
- New technology investigation, engineering, configuration and deployment
- Wireless (Cellular) telephone contract maintenance and provisioning services
- Dedicated incoming/outgoing trunk engineering and routine maintenance
- Local, Long Distance and International Long Distance
- Phone set building, configuring, programming, repairing, moving & documenting
- Systemic upgrades to hardware and software
- Telecommunications engineering for new buildings and renovated spaces (All BC properties)
- Long Distance Calling Card Administration
- Automated Call Distribution Unit (ACD) system design, configuration and maintenance
- Teleconference Bridge System
- Remote Office Tele/Data Engineering (Waltham, Weston, Newton, Dorchester & 1280 Boyleston St.)
- Dial-In Remote Access Services (design, configuration, installation, maintenance)
