The current BCCR replacement cycle has been accelerated to complete by May 31, 2011 rather than May 31, 2012.

If you received a BCCR computer during a previous replacement cycle, you will notice some changes to the program. Starting in FY09, we will replace 25% of faculty and staff computers each year on a continual basis. We will not replace monitors during FY09 through FY12. You may notice some other changes as well such as —

  • We will use Altiris Client Management software to collect information about the software you use remotely rather than interviewing you in person. Altiris is installed on both the existing (old computer) and the new computer being deployed. Altiris gathers the following:
    • Hardware information: computer name, manufacturer, asset tag, serial number, total disk space utilized.
    • Networking Information: IP address and MAC address
    • Software Information: Operating System version, executable files (applications installed), path of Outlook files on Windows computers
    • Disk usage and type of files installed
    • Username of who logs in most frequently
  • If you use a Windows system, your computer will come with the new operating system Windows 7.
  • If you use a Mac, your computer will come with Mac OS X (Snow Leopard).
  • We will use a Software Delivery program to install more of your required software before we get to your desk.
  • We will use an online Asset Management system to track what computers were delivered where and with what software.
