The Application Services group is made up of Application Development, Database Administration, and the Data Warehouse teams.
The Application Services group is responsible for designing and implementing a variety of computer applications in a complex environment involving mainframe, client/server, and web-based applications using various development tools and platforms such as Oracle RDBMS, PL1, LDAP, MQSeries, Java, Javascript, HTML and XML.
The team delivers applications via a lifecycle approach, including:

Areas of concentration:
- End user liaison
- Database design
- Data warehouse architecture
- Integration
- Reporting and Analysis tools
- Programming/Development tools
Database Administration Responsibilities:
- Installation of Oracle software, including database software, Oracle application server software, and Oracle software development and database maintenance tools
- Maintenance and upgrade of Oracle software
- Backup and restores of databases
- Monitoring database performance and space
- Design and maintenance of Oracle security
- 24/7 support of Boston College databases
